Well my guess as to why it wouldnt work is that Kinect would have to recognise the various different slouching couch/chair positions as a neutral position and then be able to translate that movement (which is no longer a standard front facing skeleton) into the movement required by the game.
Basically, it would have to instinctively know that when im lying down on the couch (my favourite gaming position) that my up and down arm movements are actually side to side movements....
They actually say that the patch will be free for the gold edition.
Im sure they will release the patch with a price on the PSN store for non gold edition owners, it dosnt make sense financially for them not to.

The average house might have 2 - 3 TV's but not 2 - 3 full size 3D capable 42" TV's, surely that dosnt need explaining to you does it shit for brains ?
The average house has 1 BIG main TV and then several smaller TV's for kids etc, so stop being such a bell-end.
